APRIL 2023

Hot off the Press!

Ed School Climate Survey (EDSCLS) for ALL stakeholders open now thru April 28!

Measuring school climate is critical for improving school climate because high quality school climate data allows us to understand the perceptions of the students, staff, and parents in our schools and across the district; monitor progress; make data-informed decisions; involve stakeholders; and adapt to shifting needs related to school climate.

This year, the district will administer the Ed School Climate Survey (EDSCLS) provided by the National Center on Safe Supportive Learning Environments.  The EDSCLS measures engagement (cultural and linguistic competence; relationships; school participation), safety (emotional safety; physical safety; bullying/ cyberbullying; substance abuse; emergency readiness/management), and environment (physical environment; instructional environment; physical health; mental health; discipline).

By assessing the perceptions of school climate, data from school climate assessments can be used to set goals and priorities and choose programmatic interventions. Data also can identify areas where students, staff, and parents view climate in similar or dissimilar ways.

Please look for future communication with links for the ED School Climate Survey (EDSCLS).

NOTE:  Students and Instructional Staff - surveys is available through Infinite Campus on March 20!!

Parent/Guardian surveys will be posted in multiple platforms - SCSD website, Superintendent's Brief, social media platforms, etc. for access.

The Transportation Times

We are very excited to share that in the very near future, the Transportation Dept will be resuming the use of Tripfinder for field trip requests! Transportation's staff will be scheduling an on-site visit at all schools to train on-site staff on how the software works. Tripfinder will allow the field trip process to be paperless, give the schools real-time access to their trips and monitor them from start to finish. It will also create a documented history for each school's trips, so they will be able to research previous trips for historical data.

We will also be offering additional support and training for Viewfinder during the visit.

After the Tripfinder training is complete, we will review the Viewfinder component of the software and answer any questions the staff may have.
