Students Connecting Through International Service
2023 - 2024 School Year
This website will be updated every evening, perhaps late, with a few pictures and stories from each day.
The six students participating in Students Connecting Through International Service raised over $20,000 to provide school supplies for the students in Sasabe, Sonora, Mexico.
The 'Looking Ahead to Tomorrow' Section gives a preview of what is to come, but is not all-inclusive of what the day will entail.
During the trip, students will:
Deliver school supplies to the students who attend school in Sasabe, Sonora, Mexico,
Learn as they tour the University of Arizona, Kartchner Caverns, the Sonoran Desert Museum, and more.
Deepen their understanding of cultures, and engage in conversations regarding their own culture and the cultures of other students participating in the project.
Journaling and Discussion
Students will have questions every day to reflect and write about their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. These written journals are the words and thoughts that will be included in the video the students will make upon returning to Minnesota. This is their trip with their words.
Pen Pals
Each student from Minnesota has written back-and-forth with a pen pal who attends Sopori Elementary School in Amado, AZ. There are students from previous years who have continued the friendship with their pen pal for many years.
