Career & College Resources

College and Career Readiness

The Osseo Senior High School Career Resource Center is committed to helping ALL students navigate the pathways available after high school. We offer many ways for students to get help and connect with options.

  • All OSH students are required to attend and participate in Advisory activities. These activities help guide students through the decision-making process as they plan for life after high school.

  • Osseo Senior High School subscribes to the Minnesota Career Information System (username=osseo, password=orioles) to assist students in the research process for colleges and careers. The Minnesota Career Information System (MCIS) is a comprehensive site to perform research on:

      • Careers, college majors

      • Colleges, admission guidelines/standards

      • Financial aid, how to pay for college

      • Test preparation (ASVAB, ACT, SAT, Accuplacer)

  • Career speakers are scheduled throughout the school year for students interested in learning more about a particular occupation or career field. Many times, these speakers are graduates of OSH or parents of current/former OSH students. The schedule of upcoming career speakers can be found here.

  • High school college visits (in the CRC) for students who are interested in learning more about a particular college. The schedule of upcoming visits can be found here.

  • For students interested in learning more about college and career readiness (how to ensure you are ready for your life after high school plans) can attend a Maz Mini Session. These mini sessions are scheduled throughout the year for students by either grade level or by topic. The schedule of upcoming Maz Mini Sessions can be found here.

College Admission Tests

College admission testing is encouraged for all junior students at Osseo Senior High School. Most students at OSH take the ACT, but some choose to take the SAT. All colleges nationwide will accept either exam for admission purposes. To determine which test would be most suitable for your student, StudyPoint provides a visual comparison: ACT vs SAT. The CRC can also answer questions about which exam might be the best for you or your student.

To register for the ACT, you must create an account at www.actstudent.org

To register for the SAT, you must create an account at https://sat.collegeboard.org/register

Osseo Senior High offers free ACT preparation sessions each year in early spring.

Students who begin their postsecondary education at a community college may be required to pass a placement exam, such as the Accuplacer, to begin taking college-level courses. Practice questions can be found here: Accuplacer Practice Questions
