The ACT test comprises four subject areas: English, reading, mathematics, and optional science and writing tests. The ACT assessment helps colleges determine how well students are prepared for college. Colleges use the ACT scores for student admissions, advising, and placement as well as for merit-based scholarship awards. Minnesota's state universities generally require a composite score of 21 or higher for admission. The highest possible ACT score is 36. Nationally 60 percent of U.S. graduating classes took the ACT test.
Many students take the ACT more than once...if you need to register, you'll need to know your ACT ID Number. This information can be found on the top center of your score report. For more information and to register for the ACT, click here.

All juniors at Osseo Senior High take the ACT during school hours for free in the spring each year (2026 exam date is March 17). Students will register for this District ACT exam during advisory. This is required prior to taking the exam. Any students that have not completed the non-test registration information prior to test day will not be able to test.
Again this year, the OSH CRC is offering in-person ACT prep sessions for juniors. These will be listed on the CRC calendar. These sessions are typically held during FOCUS Hour. It is not necessary to register to attend. See below for some online resources you can use to prepare for the exam.
In addition to our in-person offerings, we have partnered with Revolution Prep to provide two virtual opportunities: ACT 101 (ACT Boot Camp) and an ACT Practice Exam. PRE-Registration for these virtual sessions is REQUIRED. Links to register can be found on the Osseo Senior High and Rev Prep website.
On March 17, 2026, all sophomore students will be offered the opportunity to take the PreACT Secure as a practice exam for the ACT in 2027. This exam gives students an early measure of college and career readiness while providing performance predictions. The test results provide a wealth of information to help students get the start they need to be college ready. Students may opt to have their information shared with colleges and scholarship agencies when they take the PreACT.
Although the OSH CRC does not recommend any specific ACT preparation course or company, here are some resources to help juniors prepare to take the exam.
