RIDING THE BUS

Students who live beyond 1 mile of school qualify for busing.

District 196 provides transportation for eligible students upon request of the parent/guardian. All families are asked to complete a "Plan My Ride" transportation form each year.

If your situation changes after completing your initial enrollment or Plan My Ride transportation request form, use this form to make changes or updates to your student's transportation needs. 

Please allow at least five (5) business days to begin, resume, or stop transportation. Changes may be delayed when submitting requests in August and September. 

Aug. 1 is the deadline for busing at the start of school.

Please complete one form per student.  

When will I know my bus information:

• Eligible families must request a bus

  • Bus information will be sent, via ParentSquare, late August

• If the email does not contain the correct information, call transportation right away.

  • You may need to submit paperwork to correct the problem prior to school starting.

  • No corrections will be made during the first week of school so you want to make sure to flag the problem right away.

District #196 provides transportation to elementary school students living 1 mile or more from their school.

Transportation Change Request Form

Use this form to make changes or updates to your student's transportation needs.

WHEN YOUR CHILD IS NOT COMING/GOING FROM YOUR HOME   

• If your child attends daycare or has an alternate bus schedule, complete this form

• The form needs to be completed every year & each time there is a change in your child's schedule

• Call the school office with any questions

District 196 offers an alternate bus stop opportunity for daycare (grades K-5 only) Please complete one form per student.

Bus routing information is posted in Infinite Campus two weeks before the school year begins and will remain throughout the school year. 

Daycare:

• Only applies for students in kindergarten though grade 5, regardless of sibling circumstances. 

• Daycare must be located within your student's school attendance area.

  • K-5 students attending a school outside of their home attendance area based on their daycare location must have an approved Procedure 502.4P, Student Transfers: Daycare for students in grades K-5, on file in the district for the school year in question.

• This form must be completed yearly.

Fee for Transportation Option is available to:

• Students living within the walking area of their attendance area school.

• Students attending a daycare located within the walking area of the school

The Fee-For-Service Transportation Option is Not Available to:

• Intra district transfer students.

• Open enrolled students.
