Lots has been going on this month at MPMS! Beta Club is having a coat drive where they donate gently used coats to people who need them. There is also a canned food drive by the Sunshine Backpack Program, which gives food donations to kids in need so they can bring food home to their families this Christmas. Also, there is a volleyball tournament coming up on the 19th. The Art Department is having an art show on the 16th in the library and Stagecrafters is doing a play on the 11th and 12th called “Crazy Christmas”. It is $5 cash to get in and it starts at 7:00pm. Many students had benchmarks on the 4th (reading), the 10th (math) and for the 8th graders, the 11th (science). The math benchmark was pushed back a day due to the 2 hour delay on the 8th because of black ice. Christmas break is just around the corner with a half day on the 19th and we will be out until January 6th.
Stagecrafters Christmas Play
By Autumn McMahan
Stagecrafters put on a Christmas play on the 11th-12th! It was called “Crazy Christmas” and it was 4 different plays put together. The first one was called “Regift”, it was about some office employees regifting the same gift to each other until it was returned to the person who originally gifted it. She then gave it to their grumpy front desk lady who loved it. The second play was called “Undercover Elves, Incorporated”. It was about 6 elves meeting at a library who were disguising as regular people to figure out what kids deserved to be on the nice list. The third play was called “Santa’s Lost Holiday”. It was about Mrs. Claus trying to convince Santa to go out and deliver gifts, but he didn’t want to because he wanted a break. Mrs. Claus got two elves named Tumbles and Bumbles to help her do Santa’s job, knowing how clumsy they both were. This made Santa upset so he decided to deliver presents anyway. The fourth play was called “The Littlest Elf”. It was about Santa losing his glasses which made him and his elves panic because he can’t drive the slay without them. The littlest elf wanted to help Santa and the older elves with Christmas, but the older elves thought he was not ready yet. The littlest elf pointed out that Santa’s glasses were right on his head the whole time, so the older elves let the little elf help. She ended up saving Christmas by finding Santa’s glasses. This was my favorite of the four plays because the acting was the best. I also got to speak to Brantley Gardner, one of the actors, after the show. He said that everyone tried their best and they all worked very well together. I really enjoyed watching the play and I think that they all did very well!
