Tākaro: Learning through play

Our kaupapa:

To be creative, innovative, entrepreneurs. The focus this year is to avoid the trap of becoming digital zombies but rather, make stuff, design things, interact with the world of play in innovative and creative ways.

This term (Term One) we have had:

  • Board Games and stuff to do with tabletop games

  • Digital art being created

  • A keenness for E-SPORTS

    • Ready for resurrection in Term 2?

  • Civilisations rising and falling

  • Some Jack box has crept back in

  • Dungeons and dragons all over the place

  • Coding

  • Plus - stuff we do not know about but you do

We asked Students to reflect upon the learning they had done in term one. This is what they said:

  • I have had Fun 88%

  • I have made new friends or connections 55%

  • I have participated in a team or group 70%

  • I took the opportunity to lead others 21%

  • I created something new 38%

  • I was challenged with my thinking 43%

  • I got better at something 64%
