DJ and Music Production

Students have been learning about the history of DJ-ing. During the sessions, they get to experience the craft old-school style, with real records and turntables. Beat mixing was very challenging in those days. Students are getting a taste of how DJs used to survive without computers and graphic displays. It's hard, but rewarding.

We have been using the Pioneer XDJ-XZ to learn the modern craft of DJ-ing. This unit is very similar to the gear used by professional DJs in clubs and festivals around the world. In fact, many nightclubs have one of these installed. Students have been assembling their own playlists and have been learning how to mix their music to produce recorded 'mixsets', which they will upload to their Soundcloud or Mixcloud accounts.
