Testing Information

Testing Sites

COVID-19 testing is not required to enter the AULA campus but we encourage individuals who have been exposed or are otherwise at risk for exposure to get tested.

As we enter a less turbulent phase of the pandemic, LA County is now moving COVID-19 testing beyond crisis mode and into our standard health care services. The County of Los Angeles website provides guidance on how to get tested for COVID-19.

If you live outside of Los Angeles County, check your local county public health website for testing information.

Rapid antigen COVID tests are available over-the-counter at most drug stores and at many online retailers. Health insurance plans may cover the cost of at-home test kits. Please check with your insurance provider to be sure.

Testing Positive for COVID-19

The AULA community is advised to follow Los Angeles County Public Health Department (LADPH) guidance about how to care for oneself and how to prevent the spread of respiratory illness. Los Angeles County's Department of Public Health provides the following guidance:

People who test positive for COVID-19 need to isolate themselves from others (stay home) for at least 5 days after the start of symptoms or after the date of their first positive test to keep from transmitting the virus to others.  Isolation can end after Day 5, if:

DPH strongly recommends, but does not require, that infected residents have a negative test before leaving isolation between Day 6 and Day 10.

Residents leaving isolation after Day 5 should wear a well-fitting mask around others for a total of 10 days, especially in indoor settings. Please note that although individuals leaving isolation between days 6 – 10 need to wear a mask, people leaving isolation do not need to wear a mask if they have two sequential negative tests taken one day apart.

In the event of the need to isolate, students enrolled in on-ground classes are advised to consult their syllabi and/or inform their instructors. Employees are advised to inform their direct supervisors and/or Human Resources.
