Narrative Evaluations (AKA Student Learning Evaluations, or SLEs):

Faculty written evaluation of student work is at the core of Antioch University’s historic educational philosophy. All AU undergraduate courses and other learning activities, are evaluated in the Student Learning Evaluation (SLEs) written by instructors and submitted electronically at the end of the quarter. The SLE summarizes the student’s achievement of the learning objectives of the course. The instructor will indicate Credit Awarded, No Credit, Incomplete, or In-progress (if applicable) for the learning activity on the SLE.

To view your evaluations:

Go to AU Direct, and under Services, choose the myAntioch button.  Click on Student Evaluations. You'll see a list of your classes and be able to select the one you want to view.

Your evaluations should be visible a few days before the first day of the following quarter.

Evaluations are part of a student’s official academic record maintained by the Registrar. A student may specify that the Registrar attach a copy of these evaluations to the student’s official transcript when the student requests a transcript.

For more info on Narrative Evaluations, please visit the University catalog.

Letter Grade Equivalents (LGEs):

Although AULA proudly uses narrative evaluations to provide you with a personalized assessment of your learning for every course, we recognize that students increasingly feel they also need letter grade information for various purposes. With this in mind, AULA will keep track of letter grade equivalents (LGEs) for every eligible learning activity so that if you need grades or an overall GPA, it can be generated by the Registrar’s Office. Eligible learning activities for LGEs are: 1-unit workshops; 2-, 3-, and 4-unit classes, and Independent Studies. Internships and Prior Learnings are not eligible for letter grade equivalents.

Here are some useful points about LGEs at Antioch:

*An A/B is equivalent to an A- or a B+ and a B/C is equivalent to a B- or a C+. Antioch University does not use plus or minus grading.
