Message from the Principals:
We are so proud of how well our Mini-Mountaineers are adjusting and learning new routines and procedures. :) Parents you have been so patient as we have adjusted our arrival and dismissal plan to ensure the safety of all students in our buildings. The students are learning the routine and we are improving each day.
Importance of Attendance: Consistent attendance at school is a major factor in student success. It is important to lay this foundation when students are young, to build positive habits. More information and directions to report an absence are located under the Attendance Policy Tab. Please use the email address below to notify us if your child is going to be absent.

Hello everyone! Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year. My name is Mr. Tim Recke, and I am your school counselor here at the Stony Creek Elementary School. This will be my third year here and I am thrilled to be back! As the school counselor I am here to support your students academically, socially, and emotionally. Throughout the year, I will be providing classroom lessons, small groups, lunch bunch groups, community resources, and much more. Here at the SCES we all have the same goal, to help your student succeed and reach their full potential both in and out of the classroom. I am here to collaborate with teachers, administration, and of course yourselves to best serve your students. After all, you are the experts on your children!
This month I will be prioritize welcoming our new students and introducing myself to our new Kindergarteners.
Parents and guardians, please be on the lookout for a group form in your child's take-home folder. These are for our SAP groups. These are optional groups that you can choose to place your child into if you feel they may benefit from them. However, I cannot guarantee that every student will get into a group as space is limited.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. I am looking forward to working with your students this year.

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and Communities in Schools (CIS). My name is Courtney Stunz, and I am the Site Coordinator at SCES. I am so excited to be working at SCES full time! I am a 2004 graduate of Antietam High School and worked in the district previously as a paraprofessional! I am excited to partner again with the amazing teachers in this district!
As the site coordinator my role is to empower students and families to overcome barriers to school success. I am equipped to assist and support students with academic, behavior, social emotional learning, mental health and/or attendance challenges. Working with students to help them set goals and monitor their progress throughout the year. Working alongside of our school counselor I will help to support and run schoolwide lessons or events, small groups, and provide individual guidance/support. As a site coordinator I am able to assist with immediate needs as well (i.e. food, clothing, school supplies, hygiene products, etc...).
Parents/guardians please be on the lookout within the next few weeks. I will be offering groups to support students who may need additional supports and resources to help manage anger and remove barriers to students' success.
If you feel like your student could benefit from these supports, please don't hesitate to contact me 😀
I am looking forward to empowering our Mini Mounts this 25/26 school year!
