Message from the Principal:
This month we have a lot of fun things happening at Stony Creek! We will celebrate fire prevention week with activities that include our local fire department, picture day, our second annual book-or-treat, and of course the highly anticipated Halloween Parade! Details will be sent out as those dates get closer!
We are so excited to share that our Halloween Parade will be at 9 AM on Friday, October 31st. Please read the letter linked below for all the information you need for that day. Your teachers will reach out with additional details closer to the date.
This November we will be hosting our first Annual Stony Creek Turkey Trot! This will be a Fun Run to raise money for our school. Pledge sheets will come home later in October along with more details of the run!
From the Office of the Secretary
Throughout the school year, teachers may request volunteers to help with various activities. To volunteer, you must have your clearances on file. Results can take a few weeks to receive, so we strongly suggest you do them now, as holidays and fun activities are quickly approaching!
There are 3 required to consider them on file with the district:
Criminal Background Clearance
Child Abuse Clearance
Signed Disclosure Statement
If you are interested in obtaining your clearances, please click on the link below. Mrs. Kreisher will then send a "how-to" packet home with your student that will have all the information you need to obtain them.
Volunteer clearances are free and valid for 5 years!
ATTENDANCE REMINDERS
Only 10 'parent' notes are allowed per school year. After those 10 notes, a medical note will be required for the absence to be excused.
Being late also counts towards truancy. The minutes late are calculated and can lead to an unexcused absence.
Doors open from 8 am to 8:25 am - after that, your student is considered late
Parents/Guardians must sign their children in after 8:25 AM.
If you ever have any attendance questions, please email SCESattendance@antietamsd.org or reach out to Mrs. Kreisher
Get dressed up as your favorite character and come join us for some not-so-spooky fun! A night of literacy games, free books, and lots of treats! Even some of your favorite teachers will be there all dressed up!

Our first month of school here at Stony Creek has been centered around helping our students adjust to their new school setting. They have shown how resilient and flexible they can be when they are faced with change! Sometimes change can lead to big feelings in our young friends. If you notice that your student is struggling with changes or challenges in their life, please reach out to the counseling office via email or telephone (listed below).
School Based Counseling
We are continuing to offer School Based Counseling services through Betterview Counseling. This is a service is best described as a professional therapist that your student would see during the school day, which saves you the time of having to take them to a counseling office after school.

As always, if you have any questions about this service, you can always reach out to me (Mr. Recke). I am happy to answer your questions!
October Is Bullying Prevention Month
Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated over time.
In order to be considered bullying, the behavior must be aggressive and include:
An Imbalance of Power: Kids who bully use their power—such as physical strength, access to embarrassing information, or popularity—to control or harm others.
Repetition: Bullying behaviors happen more than once or have the potential to happen more than once.
Our students are still learning what bullying means and will sometimes use the word at times when it is not occurring. Please help our students understand what to look for when talking about bullying and how they can communicate with the adults at school to help them when they are here!
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.
