Class description:

If you are curious to know how to care for and manage animals, along with how to diagnose illnesses and find ways to prevent and treat those diseases, this class is for you. Students will develop business leadership, problem-solving and communication skills in relation to the science and technology of animals. Students will identify and describe the anatomy and physiology of digestive systems as it applies to nutrition, reproduction, and animal health. Students will also investigate animal genetics and how they impact principles of animal improvement, selection and marketing. Students will explore careers in animal sciences, and investigate business management practices of a veterinary clinic or animal facility and the economic design of starting a business. Field trips, projects and activities will enable students to develop communication, leadership, and business management skills. Students may also enroll in the supervised early release program, if they would like to gain additional credits and leave school early (schedule permitting) for interning at a related business.

This class is one year long and is open to 10th, 11th and 12th graders. This class is offered every other year (2021-22).
