Art

Working on my work portfolio.

In this photo I am working on my working portfolio, where I put all my work. I am sketching out the exclamation mark on my portfolio. A working portfolio is where you put the art your working on.

This is one side of my final collages and the inside of my book

This is the other side of my final collages and front and back cover of my book

A collage is when you put images together to make another image.

We created a self-dig collage and these collages are supposed to represent something that was or still is in your life. On the far left collage I kept a background with a watch. This represents  my improvement over the year in time management. I put the painted fruit basket because my grandma is a painter. The horse and the words discover are there because I discovered my passion for horse back-riding a few years back.

On the middle left collage I put a bird because my whole family enjoys birding. The word heart is there because my mom's maiden name is Hart. The words home means to me that I have too separate homes. The word live represents life, because I have so many pets.

In the middle right collage I did text because I love reading. The watch is there for the same reason I put the other watch on the collage, to represent improvement. The words sheer beauty go along with the squirrel looking through the broken window because they both represent perspective.

On the far right collage I did sheet music for the background because I play the violin. I put the lion on my collage because I want to go to Africa to see a lion. The words discover are on my collage because I love learning. The little flower is in the corner because it represents how the smallest things can be beautiful and my love for nature. The bird in the upper right corner represents how much my family loves birds. This is how my collage represents me.

Book Binding

After we finished our collages we had to bind our book. First we had to make the signature, which are pieces of paper folded in half. Then we had to punch holes in both the signature and the covers. I found it extremely challenging and it took me a very long time to complete. We bound our book with the Coptic stitch and I had to restart many times. This project took me two and a half weeks to complete.

Drawing Project

This is me getting a peer critique. A peer critique is when a peer gives you feedback on your work.

This is when my sketch was done. I still had the proportions of, but I fixed that later.

We had to do several drawing and shading exercises before we even started our drawings.

This is my drawing compared to the pictures I based it off of. I picked a jaguar because I thought it would be fun to challenge myself. For me, the skull was the hardest, and it took a while to get all the proportions right. I spent two weeks on the sketch alone and the spots took three days. In total this project took me three weeks to complete. I'm the most proud of the spots because it was really hard to get them dark enough. It took three layers of 2B and 6B pencils to get them this dark.

Clay Project

This is my pinch pot animal. The body is made out of a pinch pot. The tentacles were very hard and they kept breaking when I tried to put them on. I had my octopus holding a coin in its two tentacles and adding texture on the top of its head for detail. The color turning out wrong and I didn't layer the paint enough but I really like it. This project took me two weeks to complete.
