Everyone at CMU-Q can and do contribute to our campus' sustainability goals. On this page the various ways in which our community engage to create a thriving and sustainable campus are highlighted. If you have a project, initiative or activity that you have done that is linkanded to sustainability, let us know and we will showcase it here.
For summer 2025, students traveled to Norway as part of a sustainable educational trip.
Our EcoCampus trip in 2024 journeyed to Bhutan, the world's first Carbon Negative country.
StuCo: Sustainability Living. Fall '24
BS students Mayowa Abayomi & Nada Alaeddine taught problem solving for sustainable living through research, data, and discussion.

1000+ high school students from 40+ schools work with CMU-Q CS faculty/staff to "Program a robot that manages a sustainable farm"

Language Bridges
A community outreach program founded by Prof. Silvia Pessoa in 2009. To date, 800+ CMUQ students have taught English and IT skills to service providers. Program partnerships include: Reach out to Asia (now part of Education Above All), Vodafone, and United Development Company. Currently, Erik Helin incorporates Language Bridges in 82-289 Tutoring for Community Outreach.

MetroCards
CMU-Q offers first-year students an unlimited metro card to encourage public transportation use over driving or ride-sharing. This initiative promotes sustainability, reduces traffic congestion, and fosters eco-friendly commuting habits. Over four years, all students will benefit, contributing to a greener future.
