The SAMR Model is a framework created by Dr. Ruben Puentedura that categorizes four different degrees of classroom technology integration. The letters SAMR stand for Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition.

The following video will sum up SAMR in 120 seconds

The SAMR model describes four levels of technology integration that increase in complexity and effect, from simple substitution which barely changes the function, to a more complex redefinition where the technology use can provide opportunities to create what would not be possible without that technology.

Substitution and Augmentation are considered "Enhancement" steps, while Modification and Redefinition are considered "Transformation" steps.
