WelcomeNL is a free program for people moving to Newfoundland and Labrador, along with their spouse or common-law partner and dependent children. There’s a short screening to make sure the program is the right fit for you and your family.
To qualify, the main applicant needs a full-time job or job offer from an employer here in the province, and plans to live and work in Newfoundland and Labrador. Eligibility also extends to spouses or common-law partners of both international students and temporary residents coming to the province.
Getting started is easy – just fill out and submit the program interest form. You don’t upload documents right away, but we may ask for a few later to confirm eligibility. You’ll find a list of what we might need below.
If you’re applying with a spouse, partner, or dependent children, be sure to include their details on your application form.
Keep in mind that submitting a program interest form doesn’t automatically mean you’re in the program, but we’ll review it to confirm eligibility and let you know next steps.
Acceptable documents include:
A valid employment verification letter or signed employment contract from your current or upcoming employer in NL;
A temporary visa or work permit for Canada, including a visa/permit for the spouse or common-law partner of an international student coming to NL to study;
Proof of upcoming travel to Newfoundland and Labrador, such as an airline ticket or ferry booking;
Any additional document requested by the WelcomeNL team.
