Beloved Fraters and Sorors,
2022, The Year of the Water Tiger
Greetings, Fraters and Sorors, Colorado Rosicrucians
I confess to including a bit of animism in my studies and practice. I have long felt I had a connection to Bear. I was born in a Year of the Tiger on the Chinese Zodiac. So was my daughter. We are both Metal Tigers.
2022 is the Year of the Water Tiger, a different element from Taoist practice.
The characteristic of the metal element is toughness and a strong sense of purpose. The characteristics of the water element is relaxation, acceptance, flow. There is nothing more powerful in the world than water, yet it is the most yielding, it can conform itself to the shape of anything that might contain it, and it is also the universal solvent.
Tigers have a very special place in Chinese culture. In Chinese mythology the Tiger zodiac sign, (which is considered the king of animals) symbolizes power, courage, confidence, leadership, and strength, as well as an animal that expels evil.
The most recent issue of Rosicrucian Reflections reminds us to live the mystical lives we have studied for so long. It opens with the remark “
The time has come when merely reading about the mystical life has lost its value. We must become involved and dedicate our lives to some useful purpose or the opportunities of a cycle will pass us by.
There are many dedicated, life-long Rosicrucians in our Colorado Region. Many of them have done double- and triple-duty to keep their Affiliated Bodies operating, as well as support regional activities. We owe you all tremendous gratitude for your hard work and love for the Order.
But to keep our ABs open and flourishing, especially as we emerge from the pandemic, we need young members to step up and either volunteer or serve as AB officers. Become the future of AMORC in Colorado. This is already underway.
Now is a critical time. Much is going on in the mundane world, most of which we don’t have direct control over and it will affect our lives. To get through is going to require the characteristics of the Water Tiger: relaxation, acceptance, flow. Combine those with the characteristics of Tiger: power, courage, confidence, leadership, and strength.
We have the power of our connection to the Cosmic Mind, which enables us to be confident of our footing so that we can use our courage to move forward. Striving for our highest and best, we can demonstrate leadership and contribute to the strength of our character and the egregoire.
The Rosicrucian Reflections calls on us to put down our road maps and ‘go forth and do good works’, because our time here is limited.
In last Quarter’s message, I said I saw this as a time of going within, and studying, and it has been. A period of inner exploration and communion with our Master Within and within my own heart. There is always so much to learn.
But there comes a time when one must walk the path.
In the Bonds of the Order,
Ed Hanson, CO Regional Monitor
