Pike's Peak Atrium Group Leader's Message
Beloved Fraters and Sorors,
It has been said that many people are so afraid of dying that they never live. We could say something similar about anything we are afraid of, that it robs us of the most abundant and fulfilling life we could experience.
Have you let your fears hold you back? What are you afraid of? What is keeping you from experiencing a truly abundant and fulfilling life?
Think about that question for a few minutes. You might be surprised at the answer. Most of us are afraid of something. Sometimes we don't even realize we are afraid! Some of our fears may be neatly buried in a past we have forgotten, but that continue to affect our lives in a subconscious way.
Most of you know that I have a passion for flying airplanes, so how could I possibly be afraid of anything? But maybe I am. Maybe that time I got beat up by a gang of junior high rebels on my way home from school when I was in 4th grade turned me into a stay-at-home hermit who rarely goes out... except to fly a plane.
Once I realized that past event might be an issue for me, I began going out to meet people. I discovered I could actually have fun with strangers from many walks of life!
Once you understand what you are afraid of, you can do something about it. You can shake it off, knowing that now you can overcome that fear, especially if it is only a former fear.
What are you afraid of? What is holding you back?
Answer those questions, and perhaps you can see now that “fear” no longer needs to affect your life, that you can move beyond it! All it takes is a little awareness.
With all good wishes for Peace Profound, I am
Dave Wheeler
