Regional Monitor's Message

Beloved Fraters and Sorors,

The Opening of Eyes

That day I saw beneath dark clouds

the passing light over the water

and I heard the voice of the world speak out,

I knew then, as I had before

life is no passing memory of what has been

nor the remaining pages of a great book

waiting to be read.

It is the opening of eyes long closed.

It is the vision of far off things

seen for the silence they hold.

It is the heart after years

of secret conversing

speaking out loud in the clear air.

It is Moses in the desert

falling to his knees before the lit bush.

It is the man throwing away his shoes

as if to enter heaven

finding himself astonished,

opened at last,

fallen in love with solid ground.

-David Whyte

Take off your shoes. Everywhere, everywhere is holy ground.

As of this writing, we are still observing the recommendations of our medical experts and sheltering at home to prevent the spread of a lethal virus. Our Rosicrucian activities are curtailed and are likely to remain so for an undetermined period of time yet. We will keep you posted when there are new developments. I see this as a time of going within. A period of inner exploration and communion with our Master Within. Many people I know are using this time to clear out the clutter in their lives that has accumulated while we careened through our busy, hectic lives. It is a time to simplify, purify, and turn our hearts to those who matter most to us.

For this reason, our Venerable Grand Councilor and I, with the help of Fr. Doug Beechwood of Crestone, are creating a series of regional online meetings using Zoom. We delivered the first one on May 10. 23 members attended, more than we have ever had at a live presentation. Six members were from outside of Colorado. The need for connections was clearly demonstrated by the participation, so we look forward to doing this more.

I hope you are all safe and well.

In the Bonds of the Order,

Ed Hanson, CO Regional Monitor
