- The Colombe materialized out of the darkness and gently placed her hand on the woman’s shoulder. Both gazed at each other as they looked into the mirror on her Sanctum. The Colombe smiled with deep compassion and understanding and then slowly faded away –
This was only one of the amazing presentations at the 2019 AMORC World Convention. It started with a woman walking quietly across the stage toward a sanctum table and chair. As she walked, her image was projected on the large 15 ft x 30 ft screen for the viewing of the audience of 2,400 Rosicrucians. She sat down, lit the two candles on the table, and then lit the incense. As we gazed at her projection on the screen, we saw a beautiful Colombe walk up behind her and place her hand on the woman’s shoulder. The Colombe was only visible in the projection on the screen; she was not on the stage with the woman. Gradually her image faded; the woman put out the candles, stood up, and walked quietly off the stage.
Instead of my usual inspirational message, I wanted to share with you a couple of mystical experiences that happened to me during my stay in Italy. The above description was one of these, and I will not dwell on the remaining presentations, as they will most likely be coming out as podcasts in the future.
After my attendance at the World Convention, I started the Sacred Italy tour led by our Grand Lodge. One stop we made that was not on the schedule but was the most mystical and sacred part of my journey was a visit to an ancient Sybil’s cave outside of the village of Cumae, one of the three most important Sybil prophecy sites in Italy. The moment I saw the entrance to the cave, I felt I had lived and served there over two thousand years ago. As I entered the cave and proceeded down the path with alternating light and darkness, it was so peaceful and quiet. There was a quote in Latin from Virgil’s Aeneid carved into a slab of marble outside the entrance to the cave that spoke to the amazing location and ancient history:
“The vast flank of the Euboean cliff is pitted with caves,
from which a hundred wide tunnels, a hundred mouths lead,
from which as many voices rush: the Sibyl’s replies.”
I’ve included several photos that show the cave entrance, the cave interior, the cliff pitted with caves, and the marble slab with the Aeneid quote.
Among the many beautiful locations on the tour, the final place where I really connected was the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, Sicily. Once again, I felt I had lived there in ancient times, not as anyone special, just as someone who lived a happy, fulfilled life. Strolling down the ancient paved road that passed by Greek temple after temple, with the sun shining and a gentle breeze blowing, the feeling of joy and peace filled me and made me grateful to be alive.
This trip was a challenge for me from a physical aspect, but it was enlightening in many ways and I’m grateful I was able to make the journey to experience Sacred Italy.
With all good wishes for Peace Profound!
