Teachers are expected to dress in a professional manner at all times and respect the Thai dress code. This is culturally very important to the Thai people and it is expected that all teachers dress accordingly and maintain a professional image while on school premises at any time.
Male teachers are expected to wear a formal shirt, tie, trousers and formal dress shoes.
Female teachers are expected to wear equivalent tailored clothing; skirts/dresses must reach just below the knee; trousers to the ankle.
All staff should dress modestly and conservatively at all times on all occasions. Shoulders must be covered at all times and necklines should be high.
Mini-skirts/dresses, denim or leggings are not acceptable as forms of dress on any occasion.
To support our value of respecting Thai culture, shoes are not to be worn inside Foundation and Primary classrooms. Therefore, many staff have slip on formal shoes to wear outside the classroom. Slippers can be worn inside the classroom, or comfy, patterned socks.
Open-front sandals/flip-flops or sports shoes are not acceptable footwear as part of everyday dress. Teachers should not wear any visible facial or body piercings to work, although earrings/studs are acceptable.
When teaching PE and/or sport related after school clubs, teachers should wear knee length shorts or loose-fitting sports trousers and the school polo top. A football jersey or yoga clothing are not acceptable.
Please note that wearing Polo shirts is not part of the normal dress code.
Grey school polo shirts should be worn on field trips and house coloured polo shirts can be worn on Sports’ Day and after-school sport clubs.
Tattoos should be kept covered at all times: socks on the feet for foot tattoos and a bandage or strap around the arms or wrists.
Special Clothing for Key Events
To support the Thai culture and special days we are a part of, it is recommended to wear clothing of the following colours:
YELLOW (Father’s Day & the King’s Birthday)
BLUE (Mother’s Day & the Queen's Birthday),
and RED (Chinese New Year).
Clothing must be smart, such as tie, shirt or blouse.
We also celebrate other key dates such as International Literacy Day and World Book Day, these are great days which the children enjoy and provide an opportunity for you to dress up as your favourite characters.
Every Friday is House Friday and staff are expected to wear their house polo shirt with suitable trousers or skirt in line with the dress code.
