Sandcastles

We were always together.
Known as the three musketeers
From ever since I can remember
And by everyone far and near.
The three of us had so much fun
Fun I couldn’t see ending.
But now those days are sadly done
For we had quit pretending.
We easily drifted apart
Like drift seeds out at sea.
Although I held her close to heart,
I moved on peacefully.
Then, on the playground I met her.
Instantly, I was enthralled.
Until I faced the green-eyed monster
Did our relationship fall.
Another girl deceived me
As she, like a snake, changed her skin.
And one I connected with spiritually,
I have since lost touch with.
Although you hope your sandcastle will always stand,
It’s too weak to brace the tides of time.
In the end, you’re left with the broken pieces in hand.
But you still look for someone to rebuild it with one more time.
