Section 1: Inquiry Question and Concept Exploration
Explanation of the guiding question or concept
Inquiry Statement: How can I use color, shape, and line to transform a flat surface into a dynamic, three-dimensional form?
Inquiry Writing: Artists can transform a flat surface into a three-dimensional form by using color, shape, and line to create the illusion of depth and light. Gradients and shading can suggest how light interacts with a surface, making certain areas appear closer or farther away. Lines can curve or angle to define form and direction, helping the viewer perceive volume and roundness. The use of repeating shapes that change in size or perspective also enhances this effect of roundness. When combined, these elements make a two-dimensional artwork appear dynamic and realistically three-dimensional.

Section 3: Investigate
Visual evidence of material tests, alternate compositions, sketches.
I did this in class time and lunch time. It is a color wheel assignment that was used for us the learn and practice how to create different tones and go gradiently from one color to another. That way we can apply it on our acrylic paint project, and it can look mirror like and that the colors blend with one another.
I did this on my personal time at home. I used it to practice, explore, and experiment with this acrylic project by my own, using the resources learned and investigated in class. I know it does not go with the idea of the unit, but I was experimenting and creating something out of my head, visually, and practicing how to use acrylics and brushes in different shapes and movements.

Section 5: Final Artwork
Title: Reflections in Motion
Size: 38 x 38 cm
Date of Completion: 04-11-2025
Why: I chose this title because the colors and lines make the sphere look like it is moving and shinning. The reflections change as the shades go from light to dark, giving the feeling that the object is spinning or glowing with energy.

Creating my artwork, Reflections in Motion, has made me face multiple challenges, a lot of experimenting, thinking, researching, and applying my criteria into it. My main challenge during this project was drawing my disco ball. I chose a bigger size so I needed to draw the circle and every tile. It was a challenge because I kept re-doing the side tiles, and I needed to make every tile a square and for them to start extending vertically, but some looked like rectangles going horizontal so that was wrong and I needed to keep erasing and drawing. Another challenge was making the tiles colors opaque. The acrylics in class are very transparent and watery, so at first I needed to do multiple layers to make one tile, and that took a lot of my class time. But, I fixed this problem by taking my disco ball home for the first time and working with my own acrylics. They were much better and gave my work cleaner looks. The image #4 it is seen how I stoped experimenting with random colors and decided to work with my imagination, and those colors were of the class. After that image the colors become more opaque and thats the difference of the acrylic paints. When I say a lot of experimenting, I mean A LOT. At first I did the outline with white, wondering if it would make the colors look more neon, but it did not work, it looked incomplete. That is when I decided to do the entire outline in black to give it a bold look and make the shape stand out more. I also chose a bright yellow background to contrast with the darker tones of the disco ball and make the artwork feel more alive. Also, I saw how some artists did their disco ball with for example blue color hues, and then in one random tile there was a yellow. I tried to do that on mine, but I noticed how their tiles were much smaller and they had much more, so mine just looked like it took a lot of space and seemed like I did not know what I was doing. Also adding that it took a lot of time to do so little, and when I stopped doing so I started advancing much quicker. Finally, I also experimented on my personal work I did at home. All of this and more had me thinking, researching, and getting my mindset changed almost every minute. With all of this learned and all the struggles I got to the progress of making my final artwork, Reflections in Motion.
