Accomplishments to Date

Alwoodley 2030 volunteers are passionate about decarbonising how we get around Alwoodley and beyond. Since we launched in December 2022, we've:

• Hosted an Active Travel Party as part of the Leeds 2023 Celebrations.  This included:

  • Free pop up cycle repair 

  • A guided family cycle ride around Eccup Reserviour by the Leeds Cycle Campaign

  • Outreach by Valley Striders

  • Community Canvassing about barriers to active travel

• Coordinated a Ward Wide Walk to School Week, which included:

  • Along with Living Streets, we've been nominated and shortlisted for for a Modeshift Sustainable Travel Award our work on the Ward Wide Walk to School Week! 

  • Read this Case Study for a full write up of Walk to School week and it's Impact. 

  • Securing a partnership with Living Streest to bring their WOW programme to all the local primary schools that wanted it. This will continue into the 24/25 school year.

  • A highly successful coordinated week encouraging active travel to school. Read the full case study here.

  • Free Pop Up Bike MOTs at seven Alwoodley schools

  • Installation of Air Pollution Sensors at five alwoodley Schools. Track the live data here!

  • Incredible time and energy from our local school leaders and staff, parent volunteers and school neighbours.
