1. Project-based Learning - Integrating Technology: Expository Writing and Narrative Photo Essay (LeChase 103)

The presenter will demonstrate how her class runs with Project-based learning through the integration of technology (student-centered) teaching. She will demonstrate two examples via an expository writing project (E-magazine) and a Narrative Photo Essay based on what she has been teaching her ELLs (English Language Learners).

2. “Ownership” and Student “Empowerment” in the Classroom Foster Successful Teaching and Learning (LeChase 104)

Student “empowerment” and “ownership” need to be more central in today’s digital age classroom if effective teaching and learning are to be attained. It takes 2 to tango; it takes a partnership to succeed. Motivation, pride in one’s identity, and power of authority, need to be shared by both learners and educators.

3. Promoting Critical Thinking through Collaborative Reading Activities (LeChase 148)

Reading is often described as an independently unobservable and varied process. As a result, there may be students that analyze and interpret texts differently. This workshop will aim to explore two comprehensive collaborative reading strategies for ESL students to analyze, predict and summarize a text.

4. Introducing An A to W of Academic Literacy: A reference book for graduate students (LeChase 160)

In this session, we will present a reference book on academic literacy designed for graduate students that we are in the process of writing. We will describe its format and invite participants’ feedback on selected entries.

5. The virtual Community of Practices: Cambodian language teachers sharing pedagogical practices via digital tools (LeChase 161)

This workshop explores a group of Cambodian teachers' pedagogical practices and the development of their educator identity through a virtual Teacher Leader Academy. Participants will have the opportunity to experience the inclusion activities, discussion protocols, and modeling that led to the formation of a strong virtual Community of Practice.
