Get your GMAIL set up for the NEW YEAR by creating MULTIPLE SIGNATURES and switch between them!
TECH TREATS TIP: Before we were able to add multiple signatures in Gmail, every time I sent an email that needed a different signature, I would have to delete my signature and type a new signature or edit my signature. Being able to create multiple signatures and switch between them has saved me so much time! Many people create separate email accounts to handle the different roles they have when sending emails. Creating multiple signatures could mean that you don't need to create different email accounts, just use different signatures on the same account.
You will LOVE how it only takes a few steps to add ALTERNATING ROW COLORS to your GOOGLE SHEET!
TECH TREATS TIP: The easiest way to add Alternating Row Colors to Google Sheets is to choose a color scheme. You select the color scheme and you're done! You have options, though, if you don't want to use one of the color schemes. You can select the color you want for the Header and for each of the Rows. Just click the arrow next to the Header button and choose a color for the Header. To choose alternating colors for the rows, click the arrow next to the Color 1 button or the Color 2 button and choose a color for each of the Rows.
TECH TREATS TIP: Many times you don't have the ideal background when you're doing a Google Meet. That's why it's so great that Google Meet has multiple backgrounds for you to select from. Try some of the backgrounds to find one that you like. You can even change it up and use a different background for every Google Meet, if you like. If you don't want to use any of the backgrounds, you can also choose to slightly blur or blur your background with just the click of a button.
Don't FOOL around and share, just use SEARCH FOR PEOPLE to see someone's GOOGLE CALENDAR!
TECH TREATS TIP: Clicking on Search for People in Google Calendar is a fast way to see someone's calendar instead of asking them to share their calendar with you. This is also a great alternative to using Find a Time to find a good time to meet with someone. Sometimes you'll only see their Free/Busy time but it still helps when you're trying to find a good time to meet. I've had people share their calendar with me and still only be able to see their Free/Busy time so it's much easier to just Search for People. Sometimes you'll get a message that you can't view someone's calendar because they have it set that way. Most of the time, though, you can at least see their Free/Busy time.
Life will be ROSY when you use TRANSLATE DOCUMENT to translate GOOGLE DOCS to another language!
TECH TREATS TIP: There are over 100 languages to choose from when you use Translate Document in Google Docs. That gives you so many choices for translation! You can translate a Google Doc to as many languages as you like because it always creates a copy and the original is not altered. Of course, as with any translating tool, the translation may not be perfect but it will definitely be close enough to get your message across and it couldn't be any easier to use.
It's NO SWEAT to SET IMAGE BACKGROUND in GOOGLE JAMBOARD and it gives you so many possibilities!
TECH TREATS TIP: With an image background in Google Jamboard, you have so many choices. You can use all of the tools over the image background - the pen, sticky notes, shapes, text boxes, and more. You can also use different image backgrounds on each frame in a Jamboard. Best of all, there are so many template resources available for you to use on the internet because you can use the same templates that are made for Google Slides. The possibilities are endless!
The THEME BUILDER in GOOGLE SLIDES gives you so many options and lots of reasons for CELEBRATION!
TECH TREATS TIP: The Theme Builder can be used to create new themes or edit existing themes in Google Slides. If you save a theme in your Google Drive, you can use the theme over and over again. If you use a template from Google Slides or from an online program (SlidesMania, Slides Carnival, etc.), you can edit the template using the Theme Builder. This is so helpful and gives you so many options. The Theme Builder was previously called the Master Slide and it's still amazing!
You can CREATE A CHECKLIST in GOOGLE DOCS now to help you get ready for BACK TO SCHOOL!
TECH TREATS TIP: You can change the font, font size, and font color in a checklist and really customize it. If you change the font size, it will change the size of the checkbox. A larger font means a larger checkbox and a smaller font means a smaller checkbox. Also, if you change your font color, it will change the color of the checkbox, too. These changes can be made before you start the checklist or after the checklist is created (by selecting the checklist and making the changes).
It's as EASY AS ABC to USE EMOJIS ON LABELS in GMAIL and it will make your life easier, too!
TECH TREATS TIP: I use my "Flagged" label all the time in my Inbox and since I added an emoji to it, I no longer have to scroll down halfway through my Label List to select it. What a game changer! A label with an emoji at the front will also be at the top of the Label List when you move an email to a label. Now, not only does my "Flagged" label stand out with the red flag but it's also at the top of my Label List so no more scrolling for me! Win-win! Try adding emojis to your most used Gmail labels!
TECH TREATS TIP: I waited a long time for Google Sheets to get Smart Fill and it was worth the wait. It's the equivalent of Flash Fill in Excel and they are both amazing! Smart Fill makes it so easy to separate full names into different columns for first and last name. You can also change a first and last name to "last name, first name" and vice versa. This comes in handy so many times when you download a report and the names are not listed in a way that you can sort them alphabetically. Now you can just use Smart Fill to change the way the names are listed!
You'll be THANKFUL when you see how easy it is to use MEETING NOTES, the new GOOGLE CALENDAR feature.
TECH TREATS TIP: Being able to create Meeting Notes in Events in Google Calendar is such a great new feature! It's so nice to have the meeting notes stored with the Google Calendar event (in addition to being stored in Google Drive and Google Docs). The meeting notes are created in Google Docs and set up so that you can easily add additional attendees, notes, or action items (a checklist). If you add attendees who were not originally invited to the event, you don't even have to worry about forgetting to share the meeting notes with them because you will be prompted to share with them.
Being able to HIDE the FILMSTIP in GOOGLE SLIDES is a GIFT that many have wished for!
TECH TREATS TIP: You might be wondering why you would want to hide the Filmstrip. Here are some reasons - You might need to have more space around a Google Slide while you're creating and editing it. With the Filmstrip hidden, you have plenty of "gray space" that you can use. You might be presenting in Edit Mode and want to prevent people from seeing a preview of the upcoming slides. This keeps the focus just on the slide that you're showing. Whatever reason you have, being able to hide (and unhide) the Filmstrip is a great new feature!
