APPOINTMENT SCHEDULES will eventually replace Appointment Slots so try it out now!
TECH TREATS TIP: Appointment Schedules will eventually replace Appointment Slots. For now, if you don't have this feature, you can turn it on and try it out. I was really excited to see the new Appointment Schedules and I've been anxiously waiting to try it out. I kept wondering when it would show up on my Google Workspace account and I finally realized that I just needed to turn it on. It was worth the wait! Appointment Schedules has more options than Appointment Slots and has a cleaner, more polished look. The Booking Page button is a big improvement and the actual Booking Page has a great look that makes is so easy for someone to select a time slot. Appointment Schedules is a great new feature in Google Calendar!
MEETING NOTES, the new feature in GOOGLE CALENDAR, is so easy to use!
TECH TREATS TIP: Being able to create Meeting Notes in Events in Google Calendar is such a great new feature! It's so nice to have the meeting notes stored with the Google Calendar event (in addition to being stored in Google Drive and Google Docs). The meeting notes are created in Google Docs and set up so that you can easily add additional attendees, notes, or action items (a checklist). If you add attendees who were not originally invited to the event, you don't even have to worry about forgetting to share the meeting notes with them because you will be prompted to share with them.
SEARCH FOR PEOPLE in GOOGLE CALENDAR and you can view their calendar!
TECH TREATS TIP: Clicking on Search for People in Google Calendar is a fast way to see someone's calendar instead of asking them to share their calendar with you. This is also a great alternative to using Find a Time to find a good time to meet with someone. Sometimes you'll only see their Free/Busy time but it still helps when you're trying to find a good time to meet. I've had people share their calendar with me and still only be able to see their Free/Busy time so it's much easier to just Search for People. Sometimes you'll get a message that you can't view someone's calendar because they have it set that way. Most of the time, though, you can at least see their Free/Busy time.
Set Up a GOOGLE MEET in GOOGLE CALENDAR and people can join with one click!
TECH TREATS TIP: This is the way I set up all of my webinars. If I'm doing a webinar that's open for anyone to attend, I copy the Google Meet link and post the link as the word JOIN on my Online Learning page. Anyone who wants to join the webinar just has to click on the word JOIN and they are in the Google Meet webinar. If I have specific people attending a Google Meet webinar training, I invite them as guests and then they can easily join the training from their Google Calendar. Either way, all it takes is one click for people to join my Google Meet webinars.
CALENDAR GRAPHICS appear when you use specific words in the event title.
TECH TREATS TIP: Since Google Calendar hasn't put out a list of all of the Calendar Graphics available, you can experiment with words to see if there is a graphic to go with them. For example, if you use the word "movie", there is no graphic, but if you use the word "cinema", you will see a graphic. Not all of the holidays have graphics - yet. Google is always updating so we could see some graphics added as time goes on. The advantage of using the Google Calendar app on your phone is being able to add the Emojis. The other advantage is if you're in the Schedule view when using the app on your phone, you will easily see your graphics without having to click on the event.
APPOINTMENT SLOTS in GOOGLE CALENDAR make scheduling so easy!
TECH TREATS TIP: I like to create a special Google calendar first and then create the Appointment Slots on that calendar. This makes it easier for me to check the appointment schedule because it's separate from my regular calendar. This also keeps my regular calendar from being too cluttered. If I need to see the appointments along with my regular calendar items, I can always select both calendars and view the calendars together. Also, remember that Google Calendar Appointment Slots can only be created and used by someone with a Gmail account. If you don't have a Gmail account, you won't be able to sign up for someone else's Appointment Slots in Google Calendar.
COPY or DUPLICATE EVENTS when you need to add multiple similar events or put one event on multiple calendars.
TECH TREATS TIP: If someone shares their calendar with you, it's so convenient to use Copy to Another Calendar to copy an event from their calendar to your personal calendar. Duplicating an event is really helpful when you don't want to make an event a repeating event because some of the details are different. Sometimes you have meetings that are the same but they are on different days with different guests. This is when it's so useful to be able to Duplicate an event and change the date and the guest list but keep the meeting information the same.
