Accidentally close a Chrome tab? Here's a quick and easy way to REOPEN CLOSED TAB!
TECH TREATS TIP: Have you ever accidentally closed a Google Chrome tab? Or have you ever closed a Google Chrome tab on purpose and then changed your mind as soon as you closed it? Or have you ever closed a Google Chrome tab trying to clean up your tabs and then decided that you needed to open it again? Google Chrome has an easy way for you to quickly reopen a closed tab! This works on the last tab that you closed. All you have to do is right click over any empty space on the Google Chrome tab strip, then click on Reopen Closed Tab. The last tab that you closed will reopen! If you want to reopen a tab that you closed recently but it wasn't the last tab that you closed, you can still do that. You just need to repeat the steps of right clicking over an empty space on the Google Chrome tab strip and clicking on Reopen Closed Tab until the tab you closed reopens. You can also use Ctrl+Shift+T to do this same process. Now, you never have to worry that you won't be able to reopen a tab that you closed!
Using TAB GROUPS is a great way to get organized and save space!
TECH TREATS TIP: If you're trying to get organized or like to stay organized, Tab Groups in Google Chrome are a great solution! Not only will Tab Groups keep your tabs together, using Tab Groups will also save space. Just by clicking on the Tab Group name, you can minimize each Tab Group to only show the name of the group, which will save lots of space with your tabs. Click on the Tab Group name again and the group will expand to show all of the tabs in the group. You also have lots of options with Tab Groups. You can move the tabs around and change their order. Instead of using the right-click menu to add or remove tabs from a group, you can click and drag tabs to add or remove them from a Tab Group. You can also right click on the Tab Group name to edit the group name and/or change the group color anytime. Finally, when you right click on the Tab Group name, you have these menu options - new tab in group, move group to new window, close group, ungroup, and delete group.
It's easy to get a LINK TO HIGHLIGHTED TEXT and it's so helpful!
TECH TREATS TIP: Getting a link to highlighted text in Google Chrome is the perfect solution if you want to direct someone to specific text on a website. You can provide the link and when someone clicks on it, the website will open right at the highlighted text. You can also paste the link in a blank web page and get the same results. This is great for teachers when they want to direct students to specific information on a website. You can be guaranteed that they will see the correct information because it is highlighted!
Click on the SHARE BUTTON to make a QR Code and more!
TECH TREATS TIP: Did you know that Google Chrome has a built in QR Code generator? It's the Share Button! I've been using a Chrome extension to create QR Codes and now I can just use the Share Button. It's so easy! The QR Code it generates even has a cute dinosaur in the middle of it. How fun is that?!? With the Share Button, I can also quickly share any web page to Facebook, Twitter, reddit, LinkedIn, or Pinterest. Look for the Share Button in the omnibox on a desktop and try it out!
Being able to easily SEARCH OPEN & CLOSED TABS is a lifesaver!
TECH TREATS TIP: The little down arrow in the upper right corner of Google Chrome is hard to see but once you use it, you will go back to it over and over again. Being able to re-open a tab that you recently closed can be a lifesaver but being able to easily find an open tab can be just as useful. I have two monitors so I always drag tabs to my other monitor and then I have multiple tabs open on both monitors. I also separate tabs all the time so there can be lots of "loose" tabs on both monitors. Now I won't have a problem finding any of my tabs!
It's so easy to create a DESKTOP SHORTCUT for a WEBPAGE and it works for Docs, Sheets, Forms, etc.!
TECH TREATS TIP: After you create the Desktop Shortcut, click on the name and you can rename it something short and easy. The Shortcut icons might look different for websites but everything in Google will have the Google Chrome icon. This is why it's important to give it a short and easy name that's quickly identifiable, since all of the Google Shortcut icons will look the same.
