FORMAT PAINTER makes it easy to copy formatting. No need to remember your settings!

Easily add ALTERNATE ROW COLORS using the Format as Table tool.

TECH TREATS TIP: You can change the design you selected at any time. Just repeat the original steps to add a design. The filter arrows appear whenever you select a design. Use the filter arrows to do more advanced filtering and sorting. If you don't want the filter arrows to appear, click on the Data tab and click on the Filter icon. Clicking on the Filter icon will turn the filter arrows on or off. Since a design is selected using the Format as Table button, the Table Tools will be available to use.

INSERT a DROPDOWN LIST to control what can be entered in your spreadsheet.

TECH TREATS TIP: Inserting a dropdown list in Excel works best if you create your list ahead of time. I type the list on another sheet within the spreadsheet so that it's easy to access. If you need to edit your dropdown list, you can just edit the list on the other sheet and it will update the dropdown. You can even have multiple lists on the sheet if you have other questions that need a dropdown list. I also hide the sheet with the list so that it can't be accessed by other people. To do this, right click over the sheet tab and select Hide.

If your column headers are too wide, use TEXT ROTATION to save space.

TECH TREATS TIP: You can create a custom Text Rotation when you click on the Orientation button and select Format Cell Alignment. Adjust the dial or enter a number of degrees for a rotation that isn't one of the standard ones offered. Also, Text Rotation can be done on any cells, not just the column header cells, which is more common.

Using FIND & REPLACE to change cell colors in a spreadsheet is a quick way to make changes.
