If you're ever having trouble keeping up with a character on screen - whether it's a car speeding down a track or a horse galloping down a trail - just enable the Follow Target/Look at feature and let the Plugin do all of the heavy lifting for you.
Whether it's a player, an NPC, a bone, or a location itself - if you can raycast to it, you can both lock distance and follow it, as well as locking your Look to it and have the Plugin keep it centred in the frame. This follow feature simplifies the filming process by locking specific camera axes to your subject, letting you focus on other aspects of the shot. Or, it can be used creatively for both unique and distinct shots.
First, in order to Follow a target, we need to be able to select it.
To select something, position whatever it is you want to target in the centre of your screen, near its centre of mass, and press the Raycast to Select Target button, which is often the Select or Back button on a gamepad.
Once selected, you can either toggle Follow in the ImGui, or on the gamepad in the Regular control scheme by pressing down the LThumbstick. Pressing it again will unfollow it.Â
First, in order to Look at a target, we need to be able to select it.
To select something, position whatever it is you want to target in the centre of your screen, near its centre of mass, and press the Raycast to Select Target button. This is often the Select or Back button.
Once selected, you can either toggle Look at in the ImGui (pictured above), or on the gamepad in the Alternate control scheme by pressing Y. Pressing it again will disable it.
Like previously mentioned, often times the best way to ensure a clean selection of an object is to try and place the object's centre of mass in the middle of your screen. For boats, this would be the middle of the hull - for bipeds, this is often near the pelvis, or pelvis/root bone.
