Animal Project

You are going to do a project on Animals! Please follow the outline below to work through this project. If you get done with one section before that day is over, you may move on to the next section.

Wednesday

Pick an animal you are curious about. Please pick one that isn't super common (like dog) and one that you don't know a lot about already (so if you know a lot about horses don't pick them).
To find an animal, go to CULTURE GRAMS and click on the animals button. You can then choose from the list any category and any animal that interests you.
Gather as much research as you can about the animal. Be sure to take notes! You should be able to find:
- Physical Features
- Food
- Habitat
- Interesting facts
Gather the above information and ANYTHING ELSE YOU CAN. Your goal is to be the expert on your animal!!

Please do not use google for this project. There is plenty of information through the culture grams link!

Thursday

Today you need to take all of your information and write me an informational essay about your animal.
Be sure to include
- Introduction paragraph
- 3 body paragraphs
- Conclusion paragraph
Each paragraph should begin with an opening sentence and end with a closing sentence!!
This is structured very similar to an argument essay, only you aren't proving anything, you are just showing facts.

You have been writing informational essays since 3rd grade! You can do this! Show me your best writing!

Friday

Today is our fun day!

If you essay is NOT DONE you MUST do that first. Be sure to email it to me when you finish so I know you are done!!!
Once your essay is done, Click HERE to go to a word art generator
- You do not need to sign up, simply hit the CREATE NOW button.
- Scroll down to where it says "Shapes" and choose a shape that fits your animal
- Once you've picked a shape, go back up and hit "Word"
- When you've picked your shape and you have all the words in, you can mess with the font, layout, and style. See if you can make certain words bigger. Have fun with it. Anytime you want to see what your word art will look like, hit the "Visualize" button.
- When you have a final product you like, please make sure it is legible, and then click "Share" DO NOT CLICK on anything EXCEPT the email option.

For the subject, please put your name.
For the message, write something interesting about the animal you studied.

If you finish early, go do some research on another animal that interests you and make another Word Art picture. You do not have to take notes or write an essay for the second animal. Just learn some fun things and make a picture.
