About Me:
I love 6th grade! I am so excited that I get to share my fourth year of teaching with each of you. I can't wait to grow and learn alongside each other. My journey to teaching was an interesting one. I never really enjoyed school growing up, and never imagined I would one day become a teacher. A lot of my life, I felt misunderstood, and, though I could find places to "fit in", I never really felt like I belonged.
Ultimately, this led me to teaching. I strongly believe every child deserves to have a chance to learn and grow in a safe environment where they can discover who they are and be accepted for that. I hope my classroom will be a safe place for you this year. A place where you can learn and grow academically, yes, but more importantly, a place where you can express who you are as you work to become the person you want to be. It is my goal for every one of you to truly belong.
Fun Facts:
When I'm not teaching I spend my free time with my husband, Clint. We love to go camping and hiking together. We also like seeing fun movies (I love Here Comes the Boom and Wonder Woman). Another thing we love is playing with our puppy, Quigley.
I love reading, writing, singing, piano, and musical theatre. My favorite books are Wonder by R.J. Palacio and Life of Pi by Yann Martel. My favorite musicals are Les Miserables, Wicked, and The Scarlet Pimpernel.
Here are some other random facts you might want to know about me. I LOVE ducks! My favorite color is orange because it reminds me of a sunset. I don't know how to do a cartwheel. I'm learning to play the ukulele. I love the smell of rain.
I like to ride really fast roller-coasters, and, someday, I'd like to visit Ireland.
