On each program, we have a dedicated and fully trained team of incredible people who facilitate the work and are there to support you and the community. Additionally, we also have an off-program team spread out all around the world which supports the work from behind the scene. What to know more about our team? Have a look below!
OPERATIONS TEAM (usually can be found in the office!)
The Program Director is a full-time position responsible for the overall management and strategic development of the program including finances to ensure efficient and effective delivery of the projects. This is the most senior person at the base, and you can reach out to them if you want to report a breach of the code of conduct, to seek support with issues that other staff members were not able to assist you with, when you need medical support or whenever you need any other kind of support.
The Operations Manager is a full-time position responsible for managing the program operations to deliver efficient and effective logistical support to the project team. The OM is also responsible for managing and supporting volunteers while on the program and promoting peer-to-peer fundraising. You can reach out to the OM when you have questions associated with the organization of the base or general operations, with any feedback on the program, or whenever you need any other kind of support.
The Community Coordinator is a full-time position responsible for community engagement, fostering strong bonds between the community and AHAH on all programs and conducting beneficiary selection as required. This position is also responsible for monitoring the effectiveness of AHAH work by collecting and responding to feedback. You can reach out to them if you would like to participate in or help to organise events with the local community, if you have a question about local culture, or if you would like to learn a local language!
CONSTRUCTION TEAM (usually can be found on the site!)
The Construction Site Supervisor is a full-time position responsible for managing project workflow and ensuring the quality and safety of all work carried out. Additionally, they manage work on the site, support local staff and volunteers, and monitor the quality and efficiency of work. They will guide you on the work site. You can reach out to them to ask for more guidance on the site, or to ask any questions related to the construction.
HOW TO BECOME A STAFF MEMBER ON A PROGRAM?
BE PROACTIVE! Ask staff members on the program if you can shadow them for a day to learn more about their position. Some staff members will also offer volunteers an opportunity to step up and cover them for a few days when they are on break. This could be a great learning opportunity, and it will give you an advantage when applying for the same position in the future if you perform well.
BECOME A BASE MANAGER! In most of our programs, we recruit base managers among our residential volunteers to help at the base with any operational and organisational tasks. This is a great preparation to become a staff member, an opportunity to exhibit your dedication to the organisation, and a way to learn new skills. You can ask the VERC or OM on the program if there are any base manager opportunities available.
SHOW YOUR DEDICATION! Do you want to become a VERC? Organise your own fundraising event, and make sure to have a transacting fundraising page to show that you can be a great fundraiser! Do you dream about being a construction staff? Here some construction knowledge will be needed, but you can gain relevant experience by starting as a Team Leader or CSST on site. Express your interest in those roles to PM or CSC. There are ways to display your dedication to each position; just show the initiative. Also, make sure to ask the current staff members for recommendations when applying for a position.
KEEP ON TRYING! As leaders in the industry, we receive many applications for each opening. So don't get discouraged if you don't get your dream position the first time. Keep on trying and be open-minded, and then your chance might come!
We are always on the lookout for awesome people. Check out current job openings on our website!
