How many participants will there be? There will be between 20-25 volunteers, and 8-12 staff members, although this can vary week to week.
Do I need to have the COVID- 19 vaccination? No, we do not have a COVID-19 vaccination requirement at this time, however we do recommend being fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
How long should I volunteer for? This program does not have a minimum time commitment. With that being said, most people volunteer for at least a week, and you can volunteer for up to 8 weeks. If you would like to stay for longer than 8 weeks, please speak with the Volunteer Relations Coordinator.
Can I leave the program early? We ask that volunteers try to stick to their original time commitment. However, if an unexpected circumstance arises, we will do all that we can to support you if you need to return home. Please speak with the volunteer relations coordinator (VRC) on the program.
Will there be time to rest? The work week will run from Monday to Friday and everyone will take Saturday and Sunday off to rest. Everyone on the team (staff and volunteers) will take a mandatory three-day break every 30 days to allow time for physical and mental rest.
Can I leave Hawaii during my required break? You can use your break to go whenever you would like, however, keep in mind that it can be expensive and far to leave Hawaii and come back within a few days. Some people may choose to stay on Maui or go to another Hawaiian Island.
Can I bring anything for the program? We have a wishlist where you can find our most needed items!
How do I confirm my spot on the program? To confirm your spot, please complete the volunteer service agreement, volunteer waiver, and travel form in your invitation email.
How am I getting to the program? Volunteers are responsible for arranging their travel to and from the program and covering all costs associated.
Can I extend my stay once I’m there? We encourage you to extend your stay with us. Providing there is availability, you are welcome to extend. If this is something you may be interested in, consider initially purchasing a one-way ticket to Hawaii or a flexible return ticket.
What do I need to do in preparation for arrival? (temp checks, testing)
In the lead-up to your trip, check that you are symptom-free by regularly taking your temperature and monitoring for other symptoms. Please inform us if you have had COVID-19 symptoms at any point within 14 days of your planned arrival.
