Our project site, Shree Janaprabhat Ni Ma Vi School is located about 55 Km further away from Sindhuli town (or 60Km away from Hetauda city) and is one of the remote areas which has very limited services or facilities available for common people of the area. Most of the people living in this area are poor and their major source of income is either farming or foreign employment in the Middle East. There are not a lot of school options available for the kids of this region although the area has a lot of potential to have students from different schools.
This school serves about 220 students (grade ECD to 8) from nearby households. The school was badly damaged by the 2015 earthquake, but has managed to construct two Temporary Learning Centers (TLCs) which are still in use along with a few other old buildings that sustained heavy damage.
This is an aerial view of where we will be working on the ground up construction of three new school buildings for Shree Janaprabhat Ni Ma Vi School. We will have a highly experienced team of construction and engineering specialists who will ensure that the school is built to the highest standards.
The construction work on site includes debris removal, minor excavation work, material transportation, rebar bending, foundation digging, mixing mortar and concrete, building forms for concrete pours and finishing touches like painting and trim work. The start of program may include some project ramp up works, and the end of program will include some program ramp down activities.
A typical workday will start around 6:00 AM. Once you are awake and full of breakfast, you will head to the worksite around 7:30 AM where you’ll stay until around 4:00 PM. Once back on base, you’ll have a nightly meeting around 4:45 PM and have dinner and some free time before curfew around 7:30 PM.
