The Hariharpurgadhi Rural Municipality (Rural Municipality is known as Gaupalika in Nepali) lies in the Sindhuli district which is about 200KM (124 miles) southeast of Kathmandu. This Rural Municipality has 8 wards and a population of approximately 28,000. The headquarters of the municipality lies in ward number 2, which is also the site of our program. Our project site is located adjacent to the Rural Municipality office and there is one small market nearby that has several small stores, food cafes, a lodge and a small health clinic.
Sindhuli (approximately 55KM/34 miles away) or Hetauda (approximately 60KM/37 miles away) are larger towns and have the majority of the amenities you might need, such as large shops, hotels, hospitals, and banks. It is recommended to have all needed things purchased from home or Kathmandu before heading to the base in Hariharpurgadhi.
This is a short video clip of the ride from the worksite to the small shop located in The Municipality of Hariharpurgadhi.
