FAQS

How many participants will there be?

There will be ten volunteers in addition to staff members.

Do I need any vaccinations specific to this program?

Residential volunteers are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. We also strongly recommend our volunteers consult with a medical professional before traveling. As every individual has their own health needs and levels of acceptable risk, we encourage you to work with your medical professional to decide on the best preventative measures for you. An up-to-date Tetanus vaccination is highly recommended.

Can I leave the program early?

To help us plan our work effectively we ask that you stay for the time you have committed to. However, we understand that things happen so if you do need to change your date please let us know as soon as you can.

Will there be time to rest?

The workweek will be from Tuesday to Saturday. Sunday and Monday will be rest days. If you are joining for more than 30 days you will need to take a mandatory two day break to allow time for physical and mental rest. This may be matched up with weekend days off for 4 consecutive days off. You are responsible for all costs associated with this break; plan accordingly.

How long should I volunteer for?

We encourage you to stay as long as you like, but please note that all volunteers are required to take a 2 day break after 30 days on program. This may be matched up with weekend days off for 4 consecutive days off. Volunteers are responsible for making their own travel and sleeping accommodations while on break, so please plan accordingly.

Can I join the program at any time?

We welcome new arrivals on Mondays and Thursdays only before 4:00pm. Do not arrive outside these days. Please find detailed information in Travel to Program Section

How do I confirm my spot on the program?

All volunteers must complete an application and do a background check before an invitation will be sent.  Invitations are issued given there is enough space to on program. Once you receive your invitation, you will be asked to complete a waiver to confirm your spot on program.

What type of COVID-19 testing do I need to have?

We accept Rapid/Antigen Tests for documentation.

Before your arrival—you will be required to show the results, indicating that you have tested negative, at the base to ensure anyone arriving on our program is not infected with COVID-19.
