Theatre Play “Schuman’s Joy”

The Play "Schuman's Joy" intends to add to the knowledge of European citizens through an interactive, participative and non-formal approach with the public, concerning the historical importance of the Schuman Declaration and the relevance it had in the creation of the European Union, as we know it today.

The session was organized by the Association "Heads in the Air and Feet on the Ground", which initially aimed to take a very innovative perspective, so that it would be possible to watch the Play in two different rooms, but which would transmit the same show. However, due to technical problems on the day of the performance, the Play was only performed in the Sala da Artes, in the Forum Vallis Longus, in Valongo.

The "Joys of Schuman" crosses the story of Schuman's Declaration with Beethoven's Symphony, comparing the life of both of them and their difficulties. Robert Schuman overcame a world war and a political prison and Beethoven his deafness, both achieving extraordinary accomplishments.
