Monday, September 12th, 2022 was our first whole chapter meeting of the 2022-2023 school year. After closing ceremony our nightly activity was playing bingo as a chapter. There were 6 winners who could choose from 6 different types of king size candy.
On Monday, October 10th, we had our monthly meeting for the month of October. After the meeting, we went to the high school gym to play yard games. We set up games like bags, big bucket cup pong, and we even set up the volleyball nets to play a game of volleyball.
After our monthly chapter meeting on November 14th, we had our yearly "Friendsgiving" potluck. Every year for our November chapter meeting, everyone brings in a different food item to share with the whole group. Then, we play music and all enjoy a Thanksgiving feast together with a lot of talking and laughing.
This year after our January chapter meeting, the whole chapter got together to decorate cookies made by the ProStart FCS class. We decorated cookies shaped like farm animals and tractors to donate to the workers at two local senior living centers.
To spread the love close to Valentine's day, the chapter got together after our February chapter meeting on the 13th to make six tie blankets. We turned on a movie in the agriculture classroom and worked together to finish the tie blankets to be donated to the Iowa Children's Hospital and local homeless shelters.
For our upcoming chapter meeting on Monday, March 13th, the chapter officers have planned a scavenger hunt for the chapter members. After our meeting, the members will split into six groups and each group will be given a different clue. Then, the groups have to go find the officer that the clue sends them to, get a selfie with them, and get the next clue from that officer. The first team to get back to the ag room with pictures with all of the officers will receive a prize and bragging rights.
Every year during National FFA Week, the FFA chapter organizes and hosts a teacher breakfast for all of the teachers at Alburnett Community School. We make eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, and more and serve the teachers breakfast for a morning. This is something that has been happening for years and will continue to happen since it is so appreciated and popular among the teachers.
