Congratulations to three of our older members on receiving their American FFA Degree Grant Soukup, Jordan Balderston, and Emily Armstrong at the National FFA Convention. This is the highest degree which members in FFA can earn. The American FFA Degree is bestowed upon a select group of students in recognition of their years of academic and professional excellence.
June 22nd, 2022 - June 26th, 2022 was the annual Linn County Fair. There were a total of six Alburnett FFA members exhibiting. Exhibiting in Sheep were as follows; Raina Brown (2nd Place Light Weight WBI, 1st Place Medium Weight Blackface Market Lamb), Cutter Shefelbine (3rd Place Commercial Black Face Light Weight, 5th Place Medium Weight Commercial Black Face), Jackson Graham, Nash Hamilton (3rd Place WBI Medium Weight Commercial Lamb), and Braden Beauregard. Exhibiting in Swine were Riggs Martin and Brayden Beauregard. Exhibiting in the Horse and Pony show was Cutter Shefelbine.
August 11th through the 13th was the Iowa State Fair. There were a total of 12 members exhibiting in various competitions with 8 members placing 5th or above with their projects. Nash Hamiltion Received 1st place with his carrots and 4th place with his Lemon Drop Peppers and Zinnias. Raina Brown placed 2nd with her series of photos and got blue awards on her other two photography entries as well as blue ribbons with her sheep. Ellie Cooper received reserve champion Delphinium, 1st place Delphinium, and 4th place roses. Lindsey Hospodarsky placed 2nd and 3rd with her sunflowers. Mitch Fagel received 3rd place pumpkin and kohlrabi, and 2nd place green leaf beats. Savannah Brandt placed 4th with her jumbo zucchini. Brayden Beauregard placed 4th with red onions and 5th with his red cabbage. Our chapter placed 10th in horticulture overall. Also exhibiting at the Iowa State Fair was Cutter Shefelbine showing Sheep and Photography, Breanne Balderston exhibiting Farm Crops, Nash Hamilton with Habanero peppers and zinnias, Braydon Bauregard with sheep, Riggs Martin exhibiting in Swine and Photography, and Emily Armstrong exhibited in Equine.
