Air Quality Research
Members of my air quality research group have used RADM, ADOM, GESIMA with chemistry, METRAS, CMAQ and WRF/Chem for various applications and research tasks. More details on different research projects carried out can be found on the following web pages linked below.
Investigation of means for PM2.5 mitigation through atmospheric modeling looks at possibilities to improve air quality in the Fairbanks North Star Borough.
Investigation of the impact of ship emission on air quality and atmospheric deposition in Alaska coastal landscapes is motivated by the decrease in pH values found in Alaska waters and the increasing sulfate in remote areas.
IPY 2007-2008: Investigation of the impact of western Arctic volcanic eruption on weather and climate assessed the impact of volcanic emissions.
Investigations on the impact of land-use changes and/or radiative forcing on water availability and the pathways and interactions of the global and regional water cycles looked at climatic impacts of increased CO2 concentrations.
Investigations on the impact of urban aerosol release and heat island effect on downwind precipitation in high latitudes focussed on anthropogenic emissions of heat, water vapor and aerosols.
Development of modules for dry deposition in complex terrain with heterogeneous surface characteristics aimed at providing tools that permitted the inclusion of subgrid-scale heterogeneity of emissions and dry deposition.
