This second trip marked a big change of pace for me. It was a 12 days long trip in the 35 inhabitant town of McCarthy. In the summer this town is really famous for it's glacier hikes, the copper mine visit, helicopter visits and the 4th of July. We were lucky enough to have a beautiful weather the whole trip which made this experience incredible. We had to fight the unoficial bird of Alsaka: the mosquito. And discovered the joy of battery swaps and deconstruction of sites. This is by far my favorite trip.
This is a photo of the station ISLE. A magnificent isle of rock in between two glaciers. The Wrangell is filled with this beauty.
When you want to eat your lunch in peace you sometimes need to be creative. This is a coworker eating his sandwich in his bug shirt to get some peace.
When you think Alaska you go to moose, bears and caribous but there's also smaller wildlife that is very intrigued by our work around its house.
The work of a field technician is very physically demanding but very gratifying. When we get to a site and it was attacked by bears, it is destroyed by snow, it doesn't work but we leave it up and running all shinny it makes the work better.
