Waste reduction is an essential element to creating a healthier planet. As waste accumulates in landfills, harmful and toxic greenhouse gases, such as methane, are released into the air.
Only reusable water bottles are permitted on campus, maximizing the usage of our Filtered Water System by refilling reusable bottles
Reusable plates/trays and cutlery (MS/HS) are used in the Dining Halls
Each year the number of paper copies produced and overall paper usage is reduced at AIS-R

Disposable Water Bottle Free School: After observing an over consumption of disposable water bottles at AIS-R, we determined that the addition of water purifying fountains would benefit the local and global environment. We installed 52 water fountains and bottle filling stations around campus and, as of January 9, 2017, we are a disposable water bottle free school
AIS-R has purchased a Waste Composting Machine. This will be used to compost almost all of our school waste and we will eventually open this up to our community

Once operational, the AIS-R composter will be used to compost waste produced by our school and eventually be made available to the Al-Bustan Village Community as well.
