Selective usage of decorative fountains to conserve water
Student engagement in learning experiences through the curriculum, Walking for Water and special projects and presentations connected to global access to water, water usage, and reduction of water consumption
Strategically timed usage of the drip irrigation system to conserve water
In an effort to support more environmentally sustainable practices, drip irrigation has been implemented throughout campus. This system is utilized at optimal times to reduce water waste and promote plant growth. The growth of plants also provides shade and reduces the cost of heating and cooling at the school.
A goal moving forward is the implementation of a greywater system which purifies sink water, cooking water, and dish water and then recycles it into toilets or ground watering systems. Creating this “loop system” would allow the school to be more self-sustaining in its water consumption as well as providing an area for plant growth and student learning.
