High School Diploma

HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA (G9 to G12)

AISL's high school curriculum is rigorous, following American Education Reaches Out (AERO) and U.S. Common Core standards. In addition, to earning AISL's high school diploma, students in grades 11 and 12, have the opportunity to complete the International Baccalaureate (IB) program or earn IB Certificates . Each student chooses which pathway is best suited to their strengths and future academic goals, with close guidance from the IB Coordinator and high school counselor. Students have the opportunity to be academically prepared for admission to the university or college of their choice.

AISL offers a wide array of sport and art activities, club and house activities, in which students are strongly encouraged to participate. AISL believes that extra-curricular activities provide a student with opportunities to gain a well-rounded education and that significant learning occurs outside of the classroom as well as inside.

Students who wish to graduate with the AISL High School Diploma must meet the following requirements:

  • Twenty-six credits are required for graduation with one credit earned for each full year of passing work in a course. Specific credit requirements include: English (4 credits), Math (4 credits), World Languages (3 credits), Sciences (3 credits), Social Sciences (3 credits), Health and Physical Education (2 credits), the Arts (1 credit), Electives (6 credits)

  • Students must earn a total of twenty-six (26) credits and complete all the Creativity, Activity and Service Learning (CAS-L) requirements as indicated in the CAS-L handbook. In the case of IB students, successful completion of the Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) is also required in addition to the 26 credits.

Instruction is in English and only advanced speakers of English are admitted to the high school program.

Deadline for High School Enrollment Credit: Students in grades 9-12 who enroll at AISL after the 12th day of the semester will not receive credit, unless the student is transferring into AISL from an accredited high school. Students must provide current semester withdrawal information with current grades prior to admission review.
