Mr. Ralph Tendai Mupita

Ralph Tendai Mupita, the Group President and CEO of MTN Group since 2020, is a seasoned business leader with a career spanning engineering, financial services, and telecommunications. His leadership at MTN has been marked by strategic transformation,  strengthening the Group’s financial position, leading exits from the Middle East, expanding FinTech and digital services, and championing sustainable financial inclusion across Africa. Previously, as CEO of Old Mutual Emerging Markets, he steered operations serving 19 million customers across 19 countries, managing assets worth over R1 trillion.

Mupita’s work extends far beyond corporate success. As a Commissioner on the United Nations Broadband Commission for Sustainable Development and a Board Member of the International Chamber of Commerce, he embodies the global cooperation, diplomacy, and problem-solving values that Model United Nations (MUN) seeks to instill in young leaders. His advocacy for digital and financial inclusion aligns with MUN’s focus on addressing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly reducing inequalities (SDG 10) and fostering innovation and infrastructure (SDG 9).
