Dr. Acha Leke is a Senior Partner at McKinsey & Company in Johannesburg. He is the Chairman of McKinsey’s Africa region and a member of the firm’s global Shareholders Council. Dr. Leke joined McKinsey in 1998, playing a key role in expanding the firm’s presence in Sub-Saharan Africa, including opening its Lagos office. He gives advice to governments, multinationals, and private organizations on economic development, growth strategies, transformation programs, and investment decisions, having worked in over 20 African countries.
Dr. Leke co-founded the African Leadership Academy and the African Leadership Network, which aim to develop the continent’s next generation of leaders. He co-authored the book Africa’s Business Revolution: How to Succeed in the World’s Next Big Growth Market and McKinsey’s Lions on the Move reports. As a recognized thought leader, he frequently appears in major media outlets like CNN, Bloomberg, The Economist, and the Financial Times.
He holds a PhD in electrical engineering and master’s degrees in electrical engineering and industrial engineering and engineering management from Stanford University. Dr. Leke graduated summa cum laude in electrical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he became the first Black valedictorian in the school’s history. Originally from Cameroon, he speaks English and French fluently and is recognized as one of the most influential Africans shaping the continent’s future.
