One option for students after high school is to attend a university and work towards a Bachelors Degree. Some students will start a two year college and transfer to a four year university while others will go directly into a four year university. Students must apply and be accepted into any two year or four year university. Below are links to some of the most popular four year and two universities for our students. Each of these schools have online applications and deadlines that students must apply by in order to be considered.
Trade schools offer various programs for students interested in a skill based job. Most of these programs require a 1-3 year study program and don't require core curriculum courses such as English, math or history. These programs focus on teaching students one major skill that they will do as a career such as electrician, plumber, phlebotomist, etc. These programs all accept financial aid money and must also be applied to by certain deadline.
The Armed Forces is an excellent option for students as well. Students must take a test called the ASVAB to be considered for military enlistment. The ASVAB is given at Arlington High four times a year and students can sign up here. Below is a list of the contacts for the various branches recruiters that work with our school. Students can reach out and meet with these recruiters outside of school or during the school day. Each branch has certain requirements for enlistment.

In Texas all public colleges use goapplytexas for college applications. Therefore you only have to do one application and send it to as many Texas public college you would like to!
Many schools outside of Texas use the Common App. This is another online program that asks you to do one application that can be sent to numerous different universities around the country.
The best way to determine what your college/trade school uses to apply, is to go the website and find the link. Although, within common app and apply Texas you can also find out what schools accept those applications.
Many colleges and scholarships will also require students to submit recommendation letters and transcripts. In order to order transcripts you can click the link here. For recommendation letters, please create a resume and give it your counselor, teacher or any other recommender you choose.
In order for teachers, counselors and APs to submit transcripts and recommendation letters for you to the Common App, you must link your two accounts. Here are the directions as to how to do that.
