Meet the Squadrons
Our skilled opponents, with players attempting to foil NATO's plans. Red side will require stricter planning, will have much higher demands, but simultaneously also present a rewarding and challenging opportunity!

The pilots on Warsaw Pact will fly a few of the Redfor modules in DCS. As this aspect of DCS introduces Player versus Player-aspects, it also will be tightly controlled. The East German pilots will operate under strict guidelines on realistic behaviour, and will have a limited number of airplanes.
They will be assisted by a large number of AI planes through a human commander interface who can guide these AI aircraft to assist players. Same player, or others, similarly can function as GCI who direct the planes during a game day.
The MiG-21 is already old by 1986, but capable of punching above its weight. With both air-to-air and air-to-ground, don't underestimate your opponents. But beware, it won't be easy if this is what you wish to fly!
Su-25
The Su-25A was never actually used by East Germany. In reality, there were discussions, test flights, and some exchange pilots, but the Wall fell before the plans came to fruition. However, it is the most fitting for its role, and lacks any other appropriate substitute. As such, in our universe, in 1985 East Germany bought several squadron's worth of these aircraft.
